Why do we appreciate education?
School systems
USA. Mexico
Too much homework. Beg for homework
Not enough freedom. Not much access
Teachers are mean. Ignorant teachers
Not paid enough. Teachers don’t do anything
Teachers :
They come drunk
They are rapists
Get to class late or don’t come at all
Careless

Monica’s Masterpiece
Monica’s big Question was why are some classes mandatory in school?
Cons : Pros:
Schools boring. Improve reading and writing skills
Teachers expect a lot Get smarter
Too many hours
School is neutral to me if that makes sense. I don’t dislike it but I also don’t live school. I get tired like everyone else but I still do what I have to do. Monica said she loved history and I do too. Most students hate it because they have to write essays or it’s just boring for them but I like to write so I don’t mind.

Aliza’s Masterpiece
Aliza’s masterpiece was on, Why Finland’s education is better than the United States. They are ranked #1 in education. Here are some facts I learned:
• teachers are not underpaid & are much more respected
•they focus on what we need and don’t compete with each other
•free college
•tests only senior year
•more in consideration on students
•graduation rate is twice more than the US
I learned a lot about the education system in Finland. I would have to agree with Aliza because she made good points on how In the US we compete and don’t work together all the time. The schools education system needs to change.

Fahrenheit 451 Essay
How did Clarisse impact Montags life?
Throughout the book, Fahrenheit 451, Clarisse and Montag become really close friends. They meet up and on the way home they start catching up and she asks Monatg about his wife Mildred and his career. As clarisse starts helping him to appreciate the little things he soon starts to realize that he doesn't care about anyone, not even his wife Mildred. He realizes that the world is filled with conceited people. Many people don't care about anyone or anything but themselves. Montag starts to learn the meaning of life and only focuses on himself. He does start wondering who cares about him but sees that no one does.
The advice Clarisse gives Montag impacts his life. She helps him realize the real world of how people do not really care about you or about each other basically. Montag doesn't even care about his wife. Clarisse helped him see the truth of people and how they really are and now he is focusing on himself. She tells him the truth.

Notes of what I thought about of the Essay:
• many people just skim through the books but don’t fully understand
• everything you do creates who you are
• taking books can affect them
• re-red
• deeper meaning in the book and in yourself
Synecdoche: author uses part of something as a symbol to stand for the whole thing
Synthesis : remixing the information from different sources
Reading is a relationship

The Great Gatsby Essay Prompt #1
The last line of the book, " So we beat on, boats against the current, borne ceaselessly into the past ", is very important. This line to me represents what life is all about. The meaning.
Durning the ending of the book at this point, the author decides to end the book by writing down that quote. For a reason of course. The quote to me symbolizes how people are always stuck in the past for a reason and are trying to move on from there. There are struggles which might be like waves as you are swimming but the waves are always keeping you from doing so. You try to do one thing but the past or present is pulling you back, like it did with Gatsby.
The Great Gatsby is rich and mysterious that people are always talking about. He is trying to move away from his past, life, but something won't let him do so. In the book he faces many situations that he goes through. Basically I think the authors, Fitzgerald, quote means that no matter how hard life gets, the world doesn't stop, you move forward.
Gatsby does many things but no matter how much money and parties he makes, he won't join Daisys social group. Gatsby goes through tough moments but doesn't stop trying. I believe Fitzgerald wanted to say that life goes on so never stop doing something until you get there.

1. A description of your BIG QUESTION and why it interests you;
My BIG QUESTION is why do some people have the ability to sing and some don’t. This interests me a lot because I’ve been singing my whole life & I never actually asked myself that question. I really would like to find the answer to my question. I have found very interesting information about it and good evidence but I haven’t been full convinced on whether that’s the final answer.
2. A brief summary of THE ROAD to your Big Question (how did you get interested in the topic?);
When choosing my BIG QUESTION I have been finding amazing facts & most of them weren’t things I had known already. I do know something about music and singing but I just wanted to go deeper. I feel like most people chose a random question but I chose one that interested me ALOT.
3. A description of THE BENEFIT to investigating your Big Question-- how will learning about this help you and the world in general?
Investigating my BIG QUESTION would really help my investigation skills, help me learn more about singing. I also got to talk to someone that’s close to me about it & get great information.
4. The NEXT STEPS you will take in exploring your Big Question;
To go deeper in finding the answer to my question, I will look for more people to talk to, research a lot more ! I can talk to the choir teacher in the school, I can even look somewhere outside of the school.
5. What you hope to ACCOMPLISH in your learning by June 2018.
I hope to improve dramatically on my writing and reading skills. I’m not the worst but I always like to improve!
